Kalrav Special School, a NGO, was founded in 2008 in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. The objective of Mrs. Alpa.Mandawat, Founder & Director- Kalrav, was to help Mentally Challenged children manage their disabilities and lead a better life.Children from the economically weaker section of the society that had very limited resources for their special needs were preferred. Selfless efforts and the zeal to make a difference in the lives of children with special needs, soon made Kalrav a trusted name amongst parents of mentally challenged children in Vadodara. In 2012, Kalrav got affiliated to Shree Parshwa Medical & Education Trust. Kalrav currently supports 40 such children,where in we engage them in varied activities which will help develop their motor skills,improve their mental abilities and gives them an opportunity to stand-up in the society with pride. Following are the activities,to name a few – Activities of daily living Academic activities Vocational activities Cultural activities,sport & game Therapeutic Intervention Rehabilitation & Integration in the society Guidance & Counseling to parents Providing Mid-Day Meal & transportation to/from their home to school Kalrav takes care of all the expenses to run the school including all such activities listed Above & more,without any expected conribution from the parents of the children, as Majority belong to the non-affording class. The expenses are being met from the Contribution by Trustees and good Samaritans of Vadodara.
